Vault 3 Is Now Available for 64-bit Mac OS X!
February 1, 2011

Vault 3 is now available for 64-bit Mac OS X! I'm interested in hearing feedback from Mac users. If you experience any bugs or issues with the Mac version, please let me know.

I have just started using a MacBook Pro, and I confess I can barely find the on/off switch. Consequently the installation instructions are a bit basic for Mac OS X. If you'd like to help with the OS X installation instructions, or help create a dmg file, please contact me.

One issue I found (and fixed) was that two buttons that had an image was not sized properly to accommodate the image. In other words, when setImage is called on a SWT Button, on Mac OS X the button is not sized to accommodate the image.

The other issue I noticed with a previous version of the software was seemingly random lock-ups. In the mean time I reduced Vault 3's memory footprint and changed the Automator workflow to run the program in the background by specifying the "&":

java -XstartOnFirstThread -jar ~/Vault3/Vault3Cocoa_x86_64/vault_mac.jar &

Vault 3 Running on Mac OS X

Postscript: After this blog post was written I created a 32-bit OSX version of Vault 3.

Keywords: Vault 3, Mac, OS X, SWT, Button, setImage
